The robbery happened Sunday night at Mehaffey Park in Loveland, according to police.

LOVELAND, Colo. — Three men from Aurora with suspected gang affiliations were arrested Sunday after a teenage boy was robbed at gunpoint at a park, according to a release from the Loveland Police Department.

About 1:30 a.m. Sunday, the Loveland Emergency Communications Center received a weapons complaint call “regarding multiple juveniles.” The caller reported a robbery at Mehaffey Park in Loveland, according to the release.

When officers arrived at the park, at 3285 W. 22nd St., they located a vehicle with three men and two juveniles. Officers found three handguns inside the vehicle. One handgun had a large capacity magazine, and another was stolen out of Aurora, police said. The three men were arrested, and the two juveniles were released without charges.

Police said they were able to piece together a sequence of events after conducting interviews:

The three men whom officers detained had walked to another vehicle at the park occupied by three juveniles. One of the suspects, identified as 18-year-old Ahmad Richardson, approached the driver’s window and asked the juveniles whether they wanted to buy his handgun.

When the driver refused, Richardson pointed a handgun at the driver’s head and demanded money. The driver handed his wallet to Richardson, who took $80 before throwing the wallet back.

While this was happening, a suspect identified as Isaiah Chavez-Seppelt, 19, tapped a handgun on the back passenger side window, racked the gun and placed a round in the chamber. In November prosecutors in Douglas County filed felony charges of burglary and theft against Chavez-Seppelt.

A third suspect, identified as Robert Billie, 19, stood behind the vehicle. He had a handgun with a large capacity magazine in his waistband.

After the robbery, the suspects walked away from the vehicle.

Loveland Police say none of the juveniles were there to buy a gun. A spokesperson for the department said there had been a large party in Fort Collins earlier in the evening and the victims were at the park to meet up with friends after the party but then encountered the suspects.

The suspects face the following charges:

Richardson, who is being held in the Larimer County jail on a $20,000 bail:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Menacing
  • Theft
  • False imprisonment
  • Private firearm transfer, background check required
  • Unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon

Chavez-Seppelt, who was released Monday on a $20,000 bail:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Menacing
  • Theft
  • False imprisonment
  • Unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon

Billie, who was released Monday on a $10,000 bail:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Menacing
  • Theft
  • False imprisonment
  • Unlawfully carrying concealed weapon
  • Large capacity magazine, prohibited during commission of a crime
  • Fales reporting to authorities
