A 52-year-old man accused of ramming a driver during a road rage incident and a deputy during the following pursuit was arrested, Fort Collins Police said.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A man suspected in a road rage incident was arrested after leading authorities on a pursuit and ramming a deputy’s car, Fort Collins Police said.
Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, police said dispatch received a call from someone concerned about a possible road rage incident, and said they were being followed by a dark Ford F-150 with Wyoming license plates.
That caller was told to drive toward the police station so officers could meet them in the parking lot.
While they were driving towards the station, they were rammed from behind by the pickup truck, which continued to follow the victim’s car.
Officers located the vehicles on Ziegler Road near South Timberline Road and tried to pull the vehicles over, but the truck’s driver disregarded police and drove off north on Timberline Road, according to police.
A short time later, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the truck going north on Interstate 25.
The driver tried to evade deputies by going east on Country Road 64, going over 100 mph.
At one point, the driver rammed a deputy’s patrol car, police said.
As the truck’s driver approached the intersection of County Road 102 and County Road 19, he went off the road and crashed into a field, disabling the truck.
The driver, a 52-year-old man, was taken to the hospital for evaluation and released a short time later. He was taken into custody on suspicion of the following charges:
- Six counts of attempted second-degree assault – felony
- DUI -felony
- Vehicular eluding – felony
- Second-degree trespass on agricultural land – felony
- Criminal mischief – misdemeanor
- Harassment, following in a public place – misdemeanor
Police did not report any other injuries.
