COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — U.S. 85 northbound was closed Thursday after a hit-and-run crash that involved a semitruck, dump truck and at least three other vehicles.

The pileup happened on U.S. 85 near East 104th Avenue just after 11:30 a.m., according to Colorado State Patrol.

A semitruck and dump truck were both involved in the crash and ended up on their sides on the highway, Commerce City Police said. A picture of the scene shows at least two other vehicles with damage.

Multiple people were transported to hospitals with minor injuries, according to the South Adams County Fire Department.

Both direction of U.S. 85 were closed initially for the crash. Southbound lanes have since reopened.

Northbound traffic is being diverted onto Interstate 76. There is no estimated time when the northbound lanes will reopen.
