Two chefs from Colorado are finalists, and Boulder’s Id Est Hospitality Group is in the running in the Outstanding Restaurateur category.
BOULDER, Colo — Colorado has three finalists vying for the coveted James Beard Awards this year.
The James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards celebrate the achievements of a wide variety of eateries from fine-dining establishments to casual gems, as well as the talents of new and established chefs.
For the second year in a row, 13 Colorado chefs and restaurants received semifinalist nominations for the prestigious James Beard Awards in 2024. Now, that list has been whittled down to just three finalists from the state.
Erika Whitaker and Kelly Whitaker of Boulder’s Id Est Hospitality Group (The Wolf’s Tailor, BRUTØ, Basta and others) remain in competition in the Outstanding Restaurateur category. The category is described as “A restaurateur who uses their establishment(s) as a vehicle for building community, demonstrates creativity in entrepreneurship, integrity in restaurant operations, and is making efforts to create a sustainable work culture, while contributing positively to their broader community.”
