FANS were wondering whether Ivan Toney was being “serious” after he cheekily revealed how he wanted his perfect summer to look.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has already admitted that he expects the striker to leave the club this summer.
The 28-year-old Toney, who returned to Gareth Southgate’s England squad this week after serving his suspension for betting breaches, has a host of clubs after him.
Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea are leading the hunt for him as the Bees target Blackburn’s Sammie Szmodics as a replacement.
However, Toney tongue-in-cheekily revealed how he is targeting a move to REAL MADRID after hopefully firing England to European Championship glory this summer.
He was firstly asked what the perfect summer would look like for him ahead of Brentford’s trip to Burnley today.
He told Sky Sports: “We start winning games. We win every game from now for the rest of the season.
“I’ve scored 20 goals. We’ve got nine games, or something like that, left, so we’ve kept nine clean sheets. The job’s a gudden.”
Then pressed on the summer, he replied: “I’m in the mix for the Euros and we win the Euros.”
The interviewer agrees that “sounds like a pretty good summer” before adding: “Then we’ll find out the rest…”
Toney then finishes by saying: “If Brentford were to sell me, they make their money, I’ll move to Madrid, then it’s all good.
The clip soon went viral on X, and one of the first responses asked: “Seriously?”
Another wrote: “I love his ambition. His aiming for the biggest club in the world.”
A third added: “Ivan Toney’s got that ‘go big or go home’ vibe in his comment.
“It’s a cool mix of ambition and humor, showing he’s serious about his game but also open to new adventures.
“Players sharing their goals is always a fun read!”
“That’s how to dream,” stated another while a fifth comment read: “Dreaming big about a move to Madrid while keeping it light.
“Here’s to a perfect end of the season and an exciting summer ahead!”
