Ready to get out on the water? Here’s when boating starts in state parks on the Front Range.

DENVER — As the start of spring inches closer, Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced the opening dates for boating at seven state parks Thursday.

Before going out into the water, the agency said people have to make sure their boat is registered. All boats with a motor or sail that are used in Colorado’s public waters must be registered with CPW, according to their website.

People must also purchase an Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) stamp, which is done at the time of boat registration. Additionally, all boats have to follow inspection requirements — boat inspections, which are mandatory in Colorado, can be done during weekdays at state parks or CPW administrative offices, the agency said.

CPW said it’s required that all boats have one Coast Guard-approved life jacket for each person on board, and recommended safety courses for boaters.
