Man Utd eye De Ligt
Manchester United will attempt to sign Bayer Munich star Matthijs De Ligt, whom they want to replace Raphael Varane.
United have even been handed a quote for De Ligt in the summer transfer window.
The centre-back is familiar with the Red Devils’ manager Erik ten Hag as the pair worked together when he was a teenager at Ajax, even going so far as to be appointed captain.
According to Sky Germany, Bayern have set up a £42m price tag on the 24-year-old.
The same source adds that United have began internal talks over a potential deal.
Southampton transfer plan
Southampton are exploring a move for Fulham ace Bobby De Cordova-Reid.
De Cordova-Reid is out of contract this summer and could move to St Mary’s on a free transfer as Saints boss Russell Martin looks to bolster his attacking line following promotion.
The Cottagers are keen to keep the winger and have offered him a two-year deal to stay at Craven Cottage.
Southampton are also looking into a deal for Ben Brereton Diaz, who has returned to Villarreal after a productive six months with Sheffield United – scoring six goals in 14 appearances despite their relegation.
Coventry’s Callum O’Hare has also been discussed as a target, but interest has cooled slightly despite Martin being keen on the playmaker.
More on Olise
Michael Olise is heading to Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace for £55million.
The French under-21s international has turned down Chelsea, Newcastle and a massive new offer from Palace to join Vincent Kompany at Bayern.
The German giants have met the south London club’s release clause of £55m while the winger will bank wages of £220,000-a-week.
It is the second time Olise has decided against joining Chelsea while it is understood Palace did everything to keep their star player.
Although the departure is a blow for Palace, manager Oliver Glasner will have funds to bring in new players.
Next England boss?
Mauricio Pochettino has agreed a £10million Chelsea pay-off that frees him up as a contender for the England job if it comes up.
Pochettino would be a candidate to replace Gareth Southgate should the Three Lions manager go after Euro 2024.
The Argentinean tactician’s pay-off negotiations with the Blues have finally been settled following his sacking on May 21.
And SunSport understands there are no restrictions in the deal to prevent the former Southampton and Tottenham boss taking another job in England.
The 52-year-old’s talks over his severance package complicated interest from Manchester United, who approached him to discuss the Old Trafford job before sticking with Erik ten Hag.
Southgate’s deal with England runs out after Euro 2024 and there is no indication as to whether he will stay or not.
Michael Olise transfer blow
Crystal Palace star Michael Olise has decided to join Bayern Munich after snubbing interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United.
According to The Athletic, Bayern are now expected to agree a deal with Palace after Vincent Kompany’s side contacted the Eagles last week to discuss the possibility of signing Olise.
The Blues also asked for permission to speak to the winger but decided against pursuing a deal due to the finances involved.
According to Nathan Gissing, the Frenchman wanted to be the highest-paid player at Stamford Bridge, meaning he likely demanded over £325,000-a-week.
United, Manchester City and Newcastle were also interested in signing the 22-year-old.
Everton fire sale
Dan Friedkin is a step closer to taking over Everton after entering a period of exclusivity with majority owner Farhad Moshiri.
But the Toffees may still have to sell up to five of their best players in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United have already tried to profit from the situation but a £34million bid for Jarrad Branthwaite was rejected.
United will go back in for Branthwaite while Amadou Onana could raise £30m in a move to Arsenal.
Newcastle are also considering a £25m bid for Dominic Calvert-Lewin while Dwight McNeil and Abdoulaye Doucoure could also be up for grabs over the next days.
