ARSENAL moved top of the pile in the Premier League with a late dramatic win over Brentford.

The Emirates exploded when the much-maligned Kai Havertz rose to head home a Ben White cross in the 86th minute.

The 2-1 victory helped the Gunners leapfrog rivals Liverpool and Man City.

This campaign’s title race promises to be the most thrilling ever – with the three sides able to lay claim as being genuine contenders.

On Sunday, Liverpool and Man City will go head-to-head in a mouthwatering clash at the Etihad.

It’s the last time, on our shores at least, that legendary managers Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola face off against each other.

While Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will hope to be a Premier League winner, like his rivals, for the first time

But, if a spooky omen is to be believed the destination of the title might just be able to be predicted.

A little stat that helped Man Utd in 2009, Liverpool in 2020, and Man City in 2021 become champions has been unlocked by one of the three title rivals.

Arsenal have joined that bunch, and are now only the fourth side to win each of their first eight Premier League games of a calendar year.

That could hint that the title could be headed to North London this season.

However, they made hard work of beating a well-drilled Brentford side.

Things looked on the up when Declan Rice headed Ben White’s brilliant cross in the 19th minute to send the fans wild.

But, Aaron Ramsdale took too long with his clearance right before half-time, and when Yoane Wissa closed him down the ball deflected into the net.

Arteta’s side toiled in the first half, eventually getting the winner through German star Havertz, following great work from Ben White and a brilliant cross.

It was a vital three points that could mean the Gunners end their 20-year wait for the Premier League.
