Tens of thousands of Xcel customers in Colorado were still without power Sunday night after a windstorm swept through the Denver metro area and Front Range Saturday into Sunday morning.
Boulder Valley School District said as of 9 p.m. Sunday, six schools in the district were still without power.
“Our team will wake up early and assess the situation once more,” the district said on its website. “If power hasn’t been restored we will notify families and staff at those schools (through phone, text and email messaging) as soon as possible.”
Xcel proactively shut off power to about 55,000 customers before the storm. The University of Colorado in Boulder said some of its buildings were impacted by that shutoff.
The university said on its website Sunday night that power is being restored to those buildings, and the university will observe normal operating hours on Monday.
