The diner’s owners said the restaurant has been part of daily life in Aurora since 1998.
AURORA, Colo. — A popular diner and bar will close one of its three locations in less than two months.
Sam’s No. 3 announced its Aurora restaurant will close its doors at the end of 2023.
The diner at South Parker Road and South Havana Street first opened in 1998.
Sam’s No. 3 said its downtown Denver and Glendale restaurants are not closing. Staff at the Aurora restaurant will be able to continue employment at the other locations.
“It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the closing of Sam’s No. 3 Aurora at the end of 2023,” the restaurant said. “We have been a part of the daily life in Aurora for over 25+ years. For this we are truly grateful, but it is time for us to concentrate on owning our own space.”
“To our Sam’s No. 3 Aurora work family… we love you and will miss you most of all. You have always been the heart and soul of Sam’s No. 3 Aurora. Guests come for the green chili but keep coming back because they truly appreciate the quality of service and care that you bring to work every day. It has and is an honor to have worked beside you all these years.”
Sam’s No. 3 opened its first location on Curtis Street in Denver in 1927, according to its website.
Sam’s No. 3 said its Aurora diner opened in 1998, the Curtis Street eatery opened across the street from the original location in 2003, and its restaurant in Glendale began in 2013.
“To the people of Aurora and surrounding areas that have supported us over the years, THANK YOU,” said Sam’s No. 3’s Spero, Sam, Alex, and Patrick Armatas. “We will miss your smiling faces but hope to see you at our Glendale or Downtown locations. Your patronage was a blessing. A blessing that employed hundreds of people over the years. We ask that you please still support the staff that stay with us over the next couple of months.”
