Boss struggles to find positives
Speaking with MUTV after the game, Erik ten Hag changed tact from his ‘positive outlook’ vibes from last season’s interviews post-defeat:
The performance was below standard. If you cannot win the game, it is important not to lose it. He [Vitek] got the opportunity to make all those saves from the team. It is difficult to take much from a pre-season game with so many first team players still on holiday but tactically, Erik ten Hag’s side looked anything but solid at the back.
For Red Devils fans, they will be hoping the owners saw more in their manager than just offering a contract for beating Man City in the FA Cup final.
