Deputies said Beth Aper exited a vehicle driven by her husband in rural El Paso County in 2022.

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. — The remains of a woman who was last seen in southern Colorado in 2022 have been found, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said on Aug. 12, 2022, 55-year-old Beth Aper reportedly exited a vehicle driven by her husband on Judge Orr Road and North Calhan Highway in rural El Paso County and walked away with only two trash bags of clothes and her cellphone.

“Beth was a family-oriented woman who loved her family and never missed a holiday, a birthday, or a family gathering,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “Her disappearance was highly concerning due to its sudden nature and severance with family.”

Deputies said that on the morning of Feb. 24, human remains were found on the side of Highway 115 in Fremont County. On March 4, the remains were identified as those of Aper.

“El Paso County Sheriff’s Office detectives are aggressively following leads to understand and determine the facts in Ms. Aper’s final moments, and how she could be left callously on the side of a road,” said Sheriff Joseph Roybal in the news release. “My heart goes out to her family and friends during this difficult time. My office will not stop working on this case until we have answers.”

Anyone with information that may help the investigation is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 719-520-7777.
