COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A 15-year-old girl is missing from Colorado Springs – she was last seen walking south on Constitution Avenue, said the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Leah Black is described as an Indigenous girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She’s 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds, according to the CBI Missing Indigenous Person Alert sent out to news media around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
The alert describes Leah as wearing light blue pajama pants with ducks on them, a black top and white Crocs shoes.
Police are asking anyone who sees her to call 911 or the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000.
The State of Colorado started issuing Missing Indigenous Person Alerts (MIPA) in January 2023 after a bill was signed into law in 2022.
SB 22-150 expanded the investigation into cases of missing and murdered Indigenous people, and created the MIPA through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
