Ten Hag on training
And here’s how Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag impressed Rio Ferdinand with his training methods.
Asked which players drive their team-mates on from the current squad, Ten Hag said: “Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez.
“Licha [Martinez], when he is out on the training pitch, he’s always on the front foot.
“They set the tone so that others they can hang on.”
Ferdinand praises Ten Hag
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag’s high demands during training have impressed Rio Ferdinand.
The standards was a big thing when I was here. We used to have Paul Scholes setting the standards. He was the best every day.
It’s so refreshing to hear him talk about the training ground and standards.
Standards, standards, standards. That’s one of the things he kept repeating about – standards.
Rio Ferdinand
‘How dare you?’
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand had to issue a death stare to his Arsenal supporting co-host Joel Beya as Manchester City star Kyle Walker made a tense appearance on his FIVE podcast.
The Gunners travel to the Etihad on March 31 to face City, who they beat 1-0 at the Emirates in October.
Beya could not hide his confidence as he brazenly warned Walker, which forced Ferdinand to awkwardly step in.
The former defender said: “Your energy is mad. You’ve not won nothing but you’re energy is like you’ve got a few titles behind you.”
Beya then looked at Walker and said: “I don’t want to say too much yeah, but for real, me and my friends are looking at that game on 31 March and we reckon we can get something out of that game.
“For many years you go there and it’s a bit… you don’t know. But this time around.”
As Walker covered his mouth while smirking, Ferdinand jumped in and asked Beya: “Why is there base in your voice? How dare you?”
Wayne Rooney’s worst tweets
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney was left red faced after he and former team-mate Rio Ferdinand went through some of his old tweets.
The two England legends were appearing together on TNT Sports’ coverage of United’s clash with Everton, the club where Rooney had started and finished his Premier League career.
