Permutations
Nobody can catch Bayern Munich – they will finish top of the group.
If Man Utd lose tonight they will not make the last 16.
A draw may also not be enough for Erik ten Hag’s side if Copenhagen beat Bayern tonight.
Champions League match called off?
Manchester United face a must-win Champions League match against Galatasaray but there is a chance that the game will need to be replayed.
United are currently bottom of Group A and nothing less than three points would be enough to keep their Last-16 hopes alive, but Istanbul has been hit with torrential rain and wind which has caused fears the fixture could get called off mid-way.
Uefa regulations clearly state that in the event of a match abandonment, “the full or remaining match time” should be played “on the next day”.
That means the Red Devils staying in Istanbul overnight and returning to the Ali Sami Yen Stadium to play either the whole game or the remaining minutes on Thursday.
Only if the pitch was deemed unplayable again tomorrow would the Manchester giants be given the green light to return home, with Uefa then fixing a new date for the match.
But there is one complication, and that is the group stage must be completed by December 13.
