A man died after a shooting at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Mangold Lane, Fort Collins Police said.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A man died in a gang-related shooting Saturday night, Fort Collins Police said.
Officers responded around 11:15 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 700 block of Mangold Lane for a report of someone being shot in an apartment.
When officers arrived they found the victim and attempted lifesaving efforts before he was pronounced dead.
About 30 minutes after officers responded, the Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority sent out an alert warning people in the area to take shelter. At 4:33 a.m. an updated message said police were still in the area, but there was no longer a threat to the public.
Detectives believe the shooting is gang-related, and no further information on that aspect is being released in an effort to prevent retaliation related to the shooting, according to police.
Investigators have not arrested any suspects at this time.
Police said, as of 4:30 a.m. Sunday, there was a heavy presence at the complex while police investigated that was expected to remain into the morning hours while the investigation continues.
