Only 145 days until Loveland Ski Area’s team fires up the snow guns and starts making snow.
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. — Skiers and riders joined 6 inches of new snow Sunday morning on the final day of the season at Loveland Ski Area.
The Clear Creek County ski area closed Sunday for the 2023/24 season.
Located about an hour’s drive up Interstate 70 from Denver, Loveland Ski Area opened for the season on Nov. 10, 2023. Loveland Ski Area’s snowmaking team started making snow on Oct. 3.
The ski area said it aims to fire up the snow guns this fall to begin snowmaking in 145 days.
Loveland Ski Area said it traditionally opens with a full top-to-bottom run covered from tree-to-tree and an 18-inch base. The ski area said it usually takes about two weeks for snowmakers to cover the opening day run.
