According to police, Everett Kerron died after an altercation with the suspect, identified as Carl James “Butch” Hoopingarner, Jr.
LIMON, Colo. — A man currently in custody in Ohio on unrelated charges is wanted in connection with the killing of a man in Limon earlier this month.
On Feb. 19, Limon police officers responded to a home in the 700 block of Wisconsin Avenue and found the body of Everett Kerron.
According to a Facebook post from the Town of Limon, investigators believe Kerron got into an altercation with Carl James “Butch” Hoopingarner, Jr. at the home. As a result, Kerron was fatally injured.
Afterward, according to the post, Hoopingarner left the home in Kerr’s vehicle. He was contacted by deputies with the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody on unrelated charges in Buffalo, Ohio on Feb. 20. He’s being held there on unrelated charges and is wanted on a first-degree murder warrant related to Kerron’s death.
Authorities are working with the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office to extradite Hoopingarner to Colorado.
