Denver Fire crews are working to retrieve a vehicle from the South Platte River next to Interstate 25.

DENVER — Emergency crews are working to retrieve a vehicle from the South Platte River after an early morning crash in Denver.

Denver Fire Department (DFD) said the crash happened near Interstate 25 and Alameda Avenue Tuesday morning.

The crash involved two vehicles, one of which landed in the South Platte River, according to Denver Police.

Fire crews assisted to get a woman out of the river after her vehicle fell from the interstate into the water.

The woman was able to escape her vehicle before firefighters arrived. DFD said the woman was being evaluated by Denver Health paramedics for injuries.

Another driver was also evaluated on scene, DFD said.

Traffic on southbound I-25 was slow during Tuesday morning’s commute while the right lanes of the interstate were closed.
