YouTuber Adam Sandoval brought his convoy raising money for Wounded Warriors to Frederick, Colorado Tuesday afternoon.
FREDERICK, Colo. — A convoy of bikers drove up I-25 Tuesday afternoon on a mission: Raise money for Wounded Warriors.
YouTuber Adam Sandoval is the group’s leader, and he says they’re trying to raise $200,000.
“Trying to help out some of our veterans that are having battles right here on our own soil every day,” Sandoval said.
He never served in the military but realized in his 30s that he needed to help those who did. He started in 2014 and did his first cross-country convoy for Wounded Warriors last year.
“Basically, I’m like Forrest Gump, on a motorcycle, right? So, I ride around the country and people join me and ride with me as long as they can,” he said.
One of those people is Scott McCullor.
“You know, there’s just, you feel like you’re doing something,” McCullor said. “You’re just part of a big group that’s doing something cool.”
McCullor joined the group in Texas last year. He thought he would miss out on a chance to reconnect with the people he met this year because the convoy isn’t stopping in Texas, but he’s on vacation in Colorado and lucked out to be in the state when Sandoval and company rode through.
“Bikers all pretty much good community,” McCullor said. “You know, bikers, motorcyclists, whatever. We all kind of look out for each other.”
The convoy stops at Harley-Davidson dealerships along its route, and they invite people to join them and donate to the Wounded Warrior Project. Tuesday afternoon, they stopped at High Country Harley-Davidson in Frederick, Colorado.
Sandoval said some people are surprised to find out he never served in the military. When they ask why he chose this path to give back, his answer is simple.
“I believe if you did not serve in your military, you should find time to serve those who did,” Sandoval said. “And that’s what we’re out here doing today.”
