Hundreds of flights at Denver International Airport are already impacted by an Arctic cold front moving into Colorado and across the U.S.
DENVER — Hundreds of flights were already canceled or delayed at Colorado’s biggest airport on Friday as extreme winter weather moves into the state and across the country.
As of 12:30 p.m., there were 337 delayed flights and 155 canceled flights at Denver International Airport, according to FlightAware. There were also already 75 flights scheduled for Saturday and 26 for Sunday that were canceled.
Across the U.S., more than 2,700 flights were canceled Friday as severe weather was expected to impact much of the country.
Airlines impacted at DIA included United, Southwest, Skywest, American, Allegiant, Delta, Frontier and Air Canada.
An Arctic cold front arrives in Colorado on Friday, bringing bitterly cold temperatures and snow to the state. Wind Chill Warnings have been posted through Tuesday morning by the National Weather Service for counties across Colorado, including the Palmer Divide, Denver area, and eastern plains.
Periods of dangerous wind chill readings are expected, mainly during the overnight periods Friday night through Tuesday morning. The wind and low temps will lead to wind chills of 20 below to 35 below zero, with the most severe conditions east of Interstate 25.
