The fire estimated to be the size of a football field southeast of Byers was burning several hundred yards from nearby homes, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said.
ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — Evacuations are underway for a wildfire in Arapahoe County on Saturday.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said the brush fire is burning in the area of the 2400 block of South Quail Hollow Road, southeast of Byers.
The fire was estimated to be the size of a football field as of 11:20 a.m., and was burning several hundred yards away from homes.
The sheriff’s office did not immediately clarify where evacuations were happening.
South Metro Fire Rescue said it is sending seven units for mutual aid and structure protection. Firefighters from Sable Altura, Byers, Bennett-Watkins, Strasburg, Deer Trail and Buckley Space Force are all on scene.
