Two deputies fired shots at a man near I-70 and Kipling Thursday night. The man was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A man is dead after two deputies opened fire Thursday night in Jefferson County.
The shooting happened on Kipling Street near Interstate 70 after a deputy found a disabled vehicle in the northbound lanes of Kipling Street at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy called for backup and when backup arrived, two deputies fired their weapons at a man, according to the sheriff’s office. It is unclear at this time what led up to the shooting.
The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said.
A woman was also in the car at the time of the shooting and investigators are interviewing her, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies did find a firearm belonging to the suspect at the scene of the shooting, the sheriff’s office said. No deputies were injured in the shooting.
