About 1 to 3 inches of snow was forecast for the Denver metro area.
DENVER — Denver International Airport had a few delays and cancelations as a winter storm moved into the metro area on Tuesday morning.
According to FlightAware, there were 59 delays and 17 cancelations as of 7:15 a.m. on a busy travel day at DIA after the Christmas holiday. SkyWest Airlines had the most canceled flights, while Southwest Airlines had the most delays.
Security lines were busy, with wait times of 15 to 20 minutes. About 80,000 travelers were expected to go through DIA on Tuesday.
Some roads in the Denver metro area were icy and snow-covered on Tuesday morning, so travelers should give themselves extra time to get to the airport. Travelers should also check with their airline before leaving for the airport for information on their flight.
A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect for the Denver metro area until 9 a.m., with 1 to 3 inches of snow expected. The heaviest snow was expected from Denver into southern Aurora, Parker and Highlands Ranch, according to the National Weather Service.
