Dallas took a 2-1 series lead over Colorado with Saturday night’s win.
DENVER — The series has shifted.
After winning Game 1 of their second-round playoff series, the Colorado Avalanche have dropped back-to-back games and fallen 2-1 to the Dallas Stars after a 4-1 defeat in Game 3 at Ball Arena on Saturday night.
Both Tyler Seguin and Logan Stankoven scored twice for Dallas, while Colorado’s lone goal was provided by Mikko Rantanen.
With their second straight win, the Stars regained home-ice advantage in the best-of-seven series by throttling Colorado’s high-powered offense that entered the night having averaging 5 goals a game in these playoffs, where they hadn’t scored fewer than three goals in a game.
Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger was impressive in net, saving 29 of the 30 shots he faced. The Avalanche squandered all three of their power-play opportunities.
Colorado will look to even the series Monday night when the Avs host the Stars for Game 4. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (MT) at Ball Arena.
