DENVER — Ruby Hill Park is known as a place to make memories, but on Tuesday, it was a place to make a snowman.

Micah Rubio, 6, is an expert at building snowmen.

“So first you have to roll the first ball and then the next ball and then the next ball,” said Micah. “Then you put the eyes and then you put the nose, you put the mouth and then you put the hat on or the scarf, and then you pick the hands out of sticks.”

It can be a difficult process, but Micah makes it look simple and easy, creating three snowmen in just a matter of hours.

It’s a form of art that requires a bit of discipline, some muscle, and a lot of crawling around.

“We forgot the arms,” yelled Micah. “Get the sticks! Get the sticks! Get sticks!”

Using items from around the park, Micah creates two arms, and nose, and a mouth.

“Finally, I’m done with the snowman,” said Micah. “I’m finally done now. I’m done.”

Parts of the Denver area picked up as much as eight inches of snow on Tuesday morning.

While there were Blizzard Warnings for some areas, a rare “retrograding” area of low pressure slowly spun from east to west brought more winds and snow than was expected in the metro area. Snow rates may have been as high as 2-3 inches per hour within Tuesday morning’s band in a few locations.
