Wednesday saw a record-tying high temperature in Denver. Colorado will see more sizzling temps on Thursday before storms arrive Friday.
DENVER — The heat that roasted Colorado on Wednesday will linger over the state again Thursday.
Denver reached 97 degrees on Wednesday, tying the record high for June 12 previously set in 1952.
Thursday will be another hot and mostly dry day in the Mile High City. Denver is forecast to hit 95 degrees Thursday, just shy of the record high of 99 set in 2022.
Denver is more than 10 degrees above the seasonal average in the mid 80s.
There is a slight chance for an isolated afternoon storm Thursday in the Denver area, however, the majority of severe storms will likely stay on the eastern Colorado plains.
According to 9NEWS meteorologist Chris Bianchi, a greater and more widespread risk for severe weather moves in Friday.
Large hail and damaging winds are possible with Friday’s storms, with a higher risk north and east of Denver. Highs will be cooler Friday with highs in the mid-80s in Denver.
Denver is looking to be dry and warm for Saturday and Sunday, with only isolated storms for Saturday and a dry Father’s Day. Highs reach the low 90s on Saturday and the mid-90s for Sunday.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny and warm, with slight afternoon storm chances, high 92; partly cloudy overnight, low 60.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and hot, high 95; partly cloudy overnight, low 62.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny and warm, high 92; mostly clear overnight, low 61.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny with warm with isolated afternoon storms, high 80; mostly clear overnight, low 56.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny and cooler with a few afternoon storms, high 82; partly cloudy overnight, low 55.
THURSDAY: Mostly sunny and seasonal with isolated afternoon storms, high 86; mostly clear overnight, low 61.
