DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN is a shock summer target for Chelsea, it’s been claimed.

The England international helped Everton beat the drop last season with seven goals in 32 appearances for Sean Dyche‘s side.

Those strikes took the former Sheffield United and Northampton Town hitman’s overall Toffees haul to 68 goals in 238 appearances.

And although he’s failed to hit the heights he reached in the 2020/21 season, Chelsea are reportedly interested in acquiring his services.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, who claim the Blues are weighing up taking a punt on the 27-year-old.

Calvert-Lewin has one year left on his current contract at Goodison Park.

The Merseysiders are keen to retain his services and have offered him a bumper new deal.

Chelsea are said to be eyeing Calvert-Lewin as a cheaper alternative to Benjamin Sesko.

The Blues are admirers of the Slovenia international but could be put off by RB Leipzig‘s £60million asking price.

The West London club are keen on Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen but will have to pay upwards of £100m to land him.

Chelsea, of course, are now under new management following Mauricio Pochettino‘s departure last month.

The club moved quickly to replace the Argentine, appointing Enzo Maresca as their new gaffer.

And the Italian – who has never managed in the Premier League before – is relishing the difficult task of bringing the glory days back to Stamford Bridge.

Maresca, 44, said: “To join Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is a dream for any coach.

“It is why I am so excited by this opportunity.

“I look forward to working with a very talented group of players and staff to develop a team that continues the club’s tradition of success and makes our fans proud.”
