Supporters’ club Capote y Montera booked travel via an agency.

The group believed they would fly on a chartered plane from Madrid–Barajas Airport this morning, landing at East Midlands Airport at 7am.

They would then have made the rest of the journey to Wembley by coach.

Unfortunately upon arrival at Madrid-Barajas, fans realised that they would not be able to fly.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, supporters initially were made to believe that they would not be able to travel due to their chartered plane “breaking down”.

Capote y Montera’s president Nabil Alturek Arnaiz went on to tell Spanish radio station Relevo: “They notified us yesterday, around five in the afternoon, that the plane could not fly due to a maintenance problem.

“They have not given us more details. I have not slept a wink all night.

“I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. It’s been horrible. My agency has been ruined and this is going to hurt me a lot.”
