The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said the man was helping with trail maintenance at the resort, which was closed for the season.
BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — An employee at Eldora Ski Resort was killed Thursday when a tree fell on top of him while he was performing trail maintenance, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said.
It happened just after 10 a.m. at the ski resort located southwest of Nederland in Boulder County.
The sheriff’s office said the 52-year-old staff member was assisting with off-season maintenance at the resort, which closed for the season at the end of April.
Ski patrol began CPR on the man immediately and a flight for life helicopter was on the way, but the man died before it arrived, the sheriff’s office said.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred this morning resulting in the death of a cherished member of our team. We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of the deceased,” Eldora said in a statement. “We recognize this event will profoundly impact everyone at Eldora, and we encourage every member of our team to contact the human resources department to access our grief and mental wellness resources. We are immensely thankful to our local emergency responders for their quick response and the medical assistance provided.”
It’s not clear what caused the tree to fall.
The employee who died has not been identified.
