The Spurs midfielder only made his debut for the club last season under Antonio Conte.

But, with Ange Postecoglou at the helm, the African has been central to the Australian’s plans.

He has appeared 23 times for the club this campaign, scoring three times.

However, if football doesn’t work out – Sarr has got his eye on doing something different.

The Senegal international has a unique passion for software engineering.

“I keep up learning about computer software engineering as I keep that ticking along for the future,” he told The Athletic.

“I may go on to take a career in software engineering or similar.”

Spurs fans have been impressed with Sarr’s performances this season, especially the energy he has provided in the middle of the park.

A strong runner, it has led to his family giving him a nickname after a Brazil football legend.

His uncle calls him ‘Carlos’ after galloping left-back Roberto Carlos.

James Maddison gives young Tottenham fan ‘memory to last a lifetime’ as England star shows his true colours

“It’s a nickname my uncle gave me when I was a young boy just starting out,” he said.

“He said I had a strong drive and great shot in me and that it was like Roberto Carlos.

“Perhaps I’m not so much known for that now, over time maybe I’ve lost that particular attribute a little bit but when I go to Senegal they still call me Carlos, especially around my quartier (neighbourhood).

“If someone called out Pape no one would turn their head.”
