Denver International Airport extended a ground stop Friday night because of ice and snow.
DENVER — More than 800 flights were delayed or canceled at Denver International Airport (DIA) Friday.
According to the FlightAware website, 817 flights were delayed and 22 were canceled as of 9:15 p.m. Friday. Some of the impacted airlines were SkyWest, Southwest, United and Frontier.
The delays and cancellations came amid a winter storm that started Friday morning, which brought snow to the Colorado mountains, plains, and the Denver metro area.
DIA extended a ground stop that started at around 7:15 p.m. Friday because of ice and snow.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for some of Colorado’s northern mountains.
