Sagna backs Ten Hag

Former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna reckons Man United are suffering from doubts around “leadership and direction”.

But he backed under-fire boss Erik ten Hag to come good tactically and urge fans to back him.

Here’s what Sagna told Genting Casino on United’s plight following Sunday’s 3-0 home Prem loss to City.

They have a lot of good players, but some are struggling to adapt to the demands of the Premier League and of playing for United.
There is a lot of pressure on these players. It looks like there are a number of things happening at the club affecting performances and the quality of the team.
United are in a really tricky moment. When I look at the vibe at the club and the way some of their players are being criticised by people, things don’t look good.
I think the United fans should back up the manager and the players. They lost a game against their rivals, which hurts, but there is no shame in being beaten by the best team in the world.

Arteta knows he faces struggle with fans over Cup

Mikel Arteta knows he will never be able to persuade Arsenal fans to get excited about the Carabao Cup.

But he still won’t tolerate any of his players thinking they are too important to play in English’s football’s least coveted trophy.

Arteta will rest most of his senior stars for tonight’s fourth round tie at West Ham with one eye on Saturday’s Premier League trip to Newcastle.

And with the club dreaming of a first League title in 20 years as well as nurturing major Champions League ambitions, they certainly have bigger fish to fry than the Carabao Cup.

Arteta admits: “I don’t know if we can convince the supporters that this competition matters. If you ask them what their priority would be, it wouldn’t be the Carabao Cup for sure.

“But we will put in the same amount of work and preparation that we do for every single game playing for Arsenal. We cannot approach it in any different way because that’s not respecting the game.

“As a club, we don’t have any World Cup winners in the squad that can believe they should not be playing in the Carabao Cup. I might be wrong, but I don’t think anyone can think like that because it would be very, very arrogant.”

Gunners slight favourites vs Hammers

Arsenal are warm favourites for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup trip to West Ham, according to OLBG.

ODDS:

  • West Ham – 5/2
  • Draw – 5/2
  • Arsenal – 11/10

Gunners ‘keen on Utd target Sesko’

Arsenal are tipped to pursue Manchester United’s summer target Benjamin Sesko at the end of the season.

The Slovenia striker, 24, opted to join RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in July.

But Calciomercato claim the Gunners are biding their time before preparing to take on “fierce competition” from other clubs.

But it’s unclear if Arsenal will bid for any frontmen before then – in the January transfer window.

Arsenal and Real fancy some Raz-matazz

Arsenal and Real Madrid are amongst clubs reportedly keen on a Shamrock Rovers’ 17-year-old.

Midfielder Naj Razi made his debut with the League of Ireland club in the FAI Cup in July, quickly followed by UEFA Conference League action.

The Ireland Under-17 star’s first league game came in September.

And already he’s on the radar of European giants.

D’Or blimey! Gunners’ fans hit out in keeper debate

Arsenal fans are adamant Mikel Arteta needs to make an important change to his starting line-up.

The Gunners’ boss has insisted on starting Brentford loanee David Raya between the sticks throughout the season.

However, the North Londoners’ supporters insist Arteta should instead reintegrate Aaron Ramsdale as his No1.

This comes after Ramsdale finished eighth in the shortlist for the Yashin Trophy during the Ballon d’Or awards.

The prestigious award, which is named after legendary goalkeeper Lev Yashin, honours the best keeper in the world each year.

And the England international finished ahead of the likes of Lens’ Brice Samba and AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, while Raya wasn’t even on the list.

One Arsenal supporter tweeted: “Where is RAYA here ahead of him now?” Another commented: “Respect his name.” A third posted: “Where is Raya in all of this ?”
