Two people found the child in its car seat in the 10400 block of Carlile Street just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.

NORTHGLENN, Colo. — A 4-month-old infant is okay after being found in a Northglenn street Wednesday evening.

The case all began around 5 p.m. when someone stole a car from a shopping center located at the corner of 120th Avenue and Washington Street. The child was in its car seat in the back when the vehicle was taken, police said.

About 40 minutes later, two people called police to report they found the baby in its car seat in the middle of the road in the 10400 block of Carlile Street, which is about two miles south of where the car was stolen.

A police spokesman said the child was not harmed and was reunited with the caregiver.

Police said they put out a ‘be on the lookout’ (BOLO) alert and utilized license plate scanners in an attempt to locate the stolen car. A license plate scanner in Thornton made a hit on the hot car, Northglenn Police said.

Thornton police chased the stolen vehicle and got it to stop in the 11300 block of Riverdale Drive in unincorporated Adams County, police said. The suspect driving the vehicle was a juvenile and was arrested without further incident, according to police.
