The fire started Saturday night in a home on South Taft Hill Road.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A person and a dog were killed and another person was injured in a house fire in Fort Collins Saturday night, Poudre Fire Authority said.
Firefighters said around 6:50 p.m. Saturday, they were called to a fire in a home in the 4000-block of South Taft Hill Road. When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from all of the windows and flames in the northeast part of the home. They went inside and found a dog who had died, along with two people who were injured.
Both victims were rescued from the home and taken to the hospital. One victim died of their injuries Sunday morning, firefighters said. Their name has not yet been released.
The fire was under control by 7:12 p.m., firefighters said. Investigators determined it was caused by smoking materials with use of oxygen.
