Colorado snow totals: Here’s how much snow fell on December 26

DENVER — Heavy snow Tuesday morning came as quite the surprise for most.

While there were Blizzard Warnings for some areas, a rare “retrograding” area of low pressure slowly spun from east to west brought more winds and snow than was expected in the metro area.

Snow rates may have been as high as 2-3 inches per hour within Tuesday morning’s band in a few locations.
