Arsenal target Mbappe

Arsenal and Liverpool are both exploring the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, sensational reports say.

Mbappe’s current contract with PSG is set to expire in June, meaning he will become a free agent in the summer and is free to speak to other clubs in January.

According to the Daily Record, the Gunners and Liverpool are among potential suitors that could move for the star striker.

Both clubs are said to be “exploring the financial and sporting parameters involved” in signing the France international.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is eager to bring a new centre-forward to the Emirates as he looks to guide his team to their first Premier League title in 20 years.

The North Londoners have already been linked with a move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen ahead of the January transfer window.

Du you get it?

Dusan Vlahovic has shut down reports linking him with a January move to Arsenal.

The Juventus striker had been rumoured to be an £86million transfer target for the Gunners.

However, he has insisted he is not close to leaving the Italian giants, telling La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I didn’t experience it as a different summer from the others, from my point of view nothing happened.

“I have always been focused and calm, even during the tour in America, when I missed the match against AC Milan due to a physical problem. I have always been calm.

“I was always sure I wanted to stay. The noises are always there, and they are part of the game, if we start listening to everyone, we can go crazy.

“I isolated myself and only thought about the retreat and in the end I’m very happy I stayed. It was what I wanted.”

Tone it down

Piers Morgan believes Arsenal are one signing away from winning both the Premier League and Champions League.

The broadcaster has urged the Gunners to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney to help them challenge on both fronts.

Discussing the prospect of signing Toney, he told talkSPORT: “In the years that we won titles, we had Nicolas Anelka, Ian Wright, Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie and players of that calibre.

“We don’t have one of those and if we had one of those, we’d have a great chance of not just winning the Premier League, but winning the Champions League.

“Why shouldn’t we? We’ve made a statement of real intent this week and I think we’ve got a squad that can compete for the Champions League.”
