So far, 9,106 of the program’s vouchers have been redeemed, with 52% claimed by income-qualified participants, the city says.
DENVER — Denver will release its latest round of rebates for electric bike purchases Tuesday, and that could mean more e-bikes flooding into northwest Denver and other areas where vouchers have been heavily redeemed so far.
The rebate program, launched in 2022 by the city, gives out a limited number of e-bike vouchers that discount the price of a bike. Vouchers apply to the purchase of e-cargo bikes and standard e-bikes using a three-tired, income-based system where low-income residents receive larger rebates.
Low-income qualified residents can save up to $1,200 on standard e-bikes and $1,400 on e-cargo bikes, while moderate-income qualified residents receive $700 off standard bikes and $900 off e-cargo bikes. Any resident of the City or County of Denver can qualify for a $300 point-of-sale rebate on a standard bike of $500 off a cargo bike.
The next round of vouchers will be offered Tuesday at 11 a.m. After receiving a voucher, residents have 90 days to redeem it.
The initiative aims to reduce car trips and greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles throughout the city while providing low-income Denverites another mode of transportation. And it’s working, said Emily Gedeon, communications director for the city’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability & Resiliency.
