Crash closed southbound I-25 in Douglas County

Colorado State Patrol said the crash involved three vehicles and injured three people.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — Three people were injured in a crash that closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 25 in Douglas County Saturday night. 

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) said the crash happened at around 7:20 p.m. south of Castle Rock and involved three vehicles. Two of them collided, causing one vehicle to spin around and hit another vehicle. A witness reported that one vehicle was going in the wrong direction after making a U-turn when the crash happened.

The driver and passenger of one of the vehicles were taken to the hospital. Another driver was still being extricated as of 7:50 p.m. and was going to be airlifted to the hospital, according to CSP. The third driver was not injured. 

CSP said as of 7:50 p.m., it was expecting the closure to last up to an hour. Traffic is being diverted onto exit 181.
