BRIGHTON, Colo. — The death of a 2-month-old baby in Brighton last month is being investigated as a homicide.
Brighton Police said on Friday that officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on South 18th Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 17 for reports of a baby that was not breathing.
Officers arrived within a few minutes and began CPR, police said. The infant was then transported to the hospital and died eight days later on Aug. 25.
The child’s biological father has been identified as a potential suspect in the death, and he is currently in custody on unrelated charges.
Police said no further information was available due to the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 303-655-8740.
The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office will make the final decision on the potential filing of any charges.
