ARSENAL left it late to snatch their chance to go top of the Premier League table.
Kai Havertz scored an 89th minute winner to see the Gunners soar to the top of the table after Liverpool and Man City’s 1-1 draw earlier in the day.
Mikel Arteta’s men were uninspiring in the first half, but thanks to their £65m signing they took home all three points.
They had the ball in the back of the net in the first half thanks to Leandro Trossard, but saw it ruled out by VAR with the Belgian narrowly offside from a Gabriel Jesus header.
Brentford came close to going ahead in the first half too when Aaron Ramsdale lost his footing in the box and gave a golden opportunity to Bryan Mbuemo.
But his blushes were spared by Declan Rice who cleared the ball off the line and kept his side in the game.
And if it wasn’t for another exceptional goal line clearance in the second half, this time by Oleksandr Zinchenko, then they could have gone home with nothing.
But after plenty of patience it was Havertz that left Arteta and Co smiling and looking down at the rest of the 19 teams in the league.
