PARIS, France — Two athletes from Colorado are bringing home medals in the triathlon mixed relay at the Paris Olympics.
Taylor Knibb of Colorado helped lead the United States to a dramatic silver medal in the mixed relay triathlon on Monday morning in Paris.
Knibb captured the second-place medal for her team that included Morgan Pearson of Colorado as well as Seth Rider and Taylor Spivey.
The American team was awarded the silver medal after a small delay to analyze the photo finish by Knibb. Germany won the triathlon mixed relay gold medal and Great Britain took the bronze.
The United States has won back-to-back silver silver medals after they finished second at the mixed relay made its debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“It feels so incredible,” said Spivey, who did the relay’s second leg. “All of us didn’t have the best individual race. I don’t know why. We just couldn’t put it together. But we could put it together today, and we made it count. To walk away with the silver medal is really special.”
Knibb and Pearson each won the triathlon mixed relay silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Knibb, who lives in Boulder, finishes the Paris Olympics after competing in two sports. Knibb also competed in the cycling time trial.
Pearson, from New Vernon, New Jersey, is a seven-time All-American at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
