Exclusive: Chelsea set to reject Gallagher transfer approach
Chelsea are set to reject a cheeky bid by Atletico Madrid for Conor Gallagher.
The Spanish side have expressed an interest in the England midfielder, who is currently on international duty at Euro 2024.
But the La Liga side are struggling to get anywhere near the £50 million valuation placed on the one-time academy graduate.
Gallagher has just one year left on his contract and Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for one of their most senior players.
Sources in Spain claim Atletico, who finished fourth in La Liga last season, may go for a loan bid but that too is likely to fail.
Chelsea are only interested in permanent offers as they look to balance their books during the summer transfer window.
Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle, West Ham and Everton have all been linked with moves for Gallagher in the past.
The player is fully aware of his value with only 12 months to go until he can leave Chelsea for free under the Bosman ruling.
He was made captain several times last season under now-departed boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Everton in ‘advanced talks’ over Iroegbunam transfer
Everton are in advanced talks over a deal for Aston Villa star Tim Iroegbunam.
The 20-year-old, who joined Villa in 2022, comes highly rated.
No agreement has yet been reached on personal terms, though The Athletic report this will not be an issue.
The move would come with Amadou Onana linked with a Goodison exit this summer.
Grimsby agree Matty Carlson fee
Grimsby have agreed a deal to sign former Reading defender Matty Carson on a free transfer.
Carson has agreed a two-year deal with the Mariners.
Newcastle eye surprise move for Iceland star
Newcastle are one of three Premier League clubs eyeing a shock move for Iceland star Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson.
It comes with Newcastle also looking at deals for Michael Olise and Crysencio Summerville.
Thorsteinsson – who scored the winner as Iceland beat England 1-0 ahead of the Euros – is being tracked by West Ham, Leicester and the Magpies.
A source close to the deal told Chronicle Live: “He has always dreamed of playing in the Premier League.
“I think he showed at Wembley that he’s capable of playing at the highest level in England.”
Amrabat tells Fiorentina he doesn’t want to stay
Sofyan Amrabat has told Fiorentina he does not want return after his loan spell at Man Utd.
Man Utd have a £17m buy option in there deal with the Italian side to buy the midfielder permanently. That options expires at the end of the month.
On his future, Amrabat told Ziggo: “Do I already know what I’m going to do next year?
“No. We are going to talk. Staying is certainly an option.”
The 27-year-old only came into form towards the end of the season but played a starring role in the FA Cup final win over Man City.
The Moroccan played 30 games overall for Man Utd.
West Ham showing interest in Kilman
West Ham are showing transfer interest in Wolves star Max Kilman, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Kilman, who worked with new Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui when he was at Wolves, is highly regarded by the London club.
West Ham have started contacts over the transfer.
However, the deal will be “tricky” as Wolves want to keep the 27-year-old.
