The Aurora Police Department said the crash that left one man dead occurred early Christmas Day near the intersection of Yosemite Street and East Colfax Avenue.
AURORA, Colo. — Aurora Police is asking for the public’s help in finding the driver involved in a suspected hit-and-run crash that left one man dead on Christmas Day in northwest Aurora.
Around 1:20 a.m. Monday, Aurora police officers responded to a report of a man down near the intersection of Yosemite St. and E. Colfax Ave. Upon arriving to the scene, police said they found an unidentified man who had life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office will identify him after identification and notification to next-of-kin.
Investigators believe that the deceased may have been a victim of a hit-and-run crash. Police said the vehicle in question is a dark-colored pickup truck. The driver of that truck has not yet been positively identified or located, and neither has the vehicle.
Anyone with any information about the driver or truck is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation.
From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
