LOVELAND, Colo. — An investigation is underway for a residential fire in Loveland that left one person dead and another person severely burned early Saturday morning.
The Loveland Police Department said its dispatch center received a 911 call just before 3:30 a.m. about a fire in the 3100 block of Butternut Drive, causing multiple agencies — including Loveland Police and the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority — to respond to the residence.
The department said a preliminary investigation found there were three people inside the residence when the fire started, one of whom was found dead.
Another person was taken to a hospital in Denver for severe burns, and the third individual received treatment for smoke inhalation at the scene, according to the department.
Police said an investigation involving several agencies and arson investigators is underway to determine the cause of the fire. Nearby residents can expect the presence of police and firefighters in the area into Saturday evening, the department said.
The cause of death and identity of the deceased will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office at a later date.
