Aurora Police are investigating the apparent homicide-suicide after looking into a report of a woman who had gone missing while working as a housekeeper.
AURORA, Colo. — Aurora Police said they are investigating a homicide-suicide that started with a report of a woman who went missing while working her job as a housekeeper.
Police said officers responded around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday to an apartment in the 18300 block of East Kepner Place for a report of a missing woman.
The caller said his mother was scheduled to arrive at 7 a.m. for a housekeeping job at the apartment complex and did not show up to other appointments later in the day.
Officers found the woman’s car in the parking lot and tried to contact the resident inside the apartment without success. They decided to enter the apartment, and heard a single gunshot when they did, police said.
Inside, officers found a 30-year-old Aurora man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Dismembered human remains were found inside, and additional remains were found in a nearby dumpster. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 62-year-old Elena Vonfeldt, and ruled her death a homicide.
