Woman killed in crash involving Xcel Energy service truck

Colorado State Patrol said a 63-year-old woman died after crashing head-on into an Xcel Energy service truck on Highway 285 near Conifer on Friday.

CONIFER, Colo. — A woman was killed in a crash involving an Xcel Energy service truck Friday night.

Colorado State Patrol said troopers responded to a crash just after 6 p.m. on Highway 285 at milepost 234, near Conifer.

Investigators determined the driver of a Dodge pickup truck going south crossed into northbound lanes and crashed head-on into the Xcel truck.

The driver of the pickup, a 63-year-old woman from Shawnee, Colorado, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two juvenile passengers in her truck and the Xcel driver were treated for minor injuries. 

The identity of the woman who died will be released by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

CSP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call dispatch at 303-239-4522.
