The Summit County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies are responding to a wildfire north of I-70 and Frisco near Exit 203.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — Smoke from a wildfire burning on the west side of Interstate 70 near Frisco on Forest Service land can be seen by Summit County residents and travelers along the highway, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said.

9NEWS viewers were the first to report they saw the fire’s smoke. They shared pictures and video of the fire.

The sheriff’s office said the fire is burning in the White River National Forest. No structures are at risk and no evacuations are anticipated because of the fire, the sheriff said.

9NEWS reporter Matt Renoux, who lives in Summit County, said firefighters are on the scene. He also reported the fire and shared pictures and videos with the newsroom.

He said Summit County is under fire restrictions for the first time in years because of the dry conditions, despite recent snowfall in the area.

The sheriff’s office said all further updates on the fire will come from the U.S. Forest Service – White River National Forest.
