MANCHESTER UNITED’S FA Cup triumph will make it tougher for the club to sack manager Erik ten Hag due to a clause in his contract.
The Red Devils stunned rivals Manchester City to claim a 2-1 win at Wembley on Saturday, finishing a dismal campaign on a surprising high.
Yet despite the victory, Ten Hag is still expected to be dismissed in the coming weeks.
It comes after their lowest Premier League finish – eighth – and a Champions League group-stage exit.
However, according to The Times, Man Utd’s trophy-winning performance over the weekend will now make it more difficult for them to shift their head coach.
That is because the FA Cup win secured Europa League qualification – which in turn means sacking Ten Hag requires a higher compensation fee.
The board are conducting a review into the season – which will include a decision on the future of their manager – and is expected to take “several days”.
Meanwhile, Ten Hag revealed over the weekend that he has received offers from other clubs should he leave Man Utd – including former side Ajax.
Speaking to Voetbal International, he said: “Maybe they [Ajax] think I’ll be fired and then I’ll be available.
“I never thought about it for even a second. I never wanted to do that, because my focus is entirely on Manchester United.

“Several clubs have inquired recently, but that does not have my attention.”
Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna have all emerged as potential replacements should Ten Hag get the boot.
But it was revealed on Monday that McKenna wants to remain at Ipswich next season.
