County clerks are sending out ballots starting Friday.

COLORADO, USA — Election season is in full swing across the country, and Coloradans can start filling out their ballots very soon.

County clerks are sending out ballots starting Friday, Oct. 11 — which means voters will find them in their mailboxes over the next few days.

Every registered voter in Colorado will receive a ballot through the mail, but you can choose whether to vote by mail or in person. Either way, ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 5. If you’re mailing your ballot, the Secretary of State recommends doing so by Oct. 28 to ensure it arrives in time.

If you’re not sure whether you’re registered to vote, you can check your status on the Colorado Secretary of State’s website.

If you want to receive a ballot by mail, you must register to vote by Oct. 28. Registering to vote after that date means you’ll need to vote in person. You can register to vote in Colorado, and vote, through 7 p.m. on Election Day.

You’ve likely already received a Colorado Blue Book in the mail. That’s the book that explains the 14 statewide ballot measures that voters will decide on this year. For each measure on the ballot, the Blue Book provides general information, arguments from proponents and opponents and financial information on the measure. You can also read the Blue Book online.
